Blogs and Stories

Amidst COVID emergency in India, people like Bindubai are ROLE MODELS for their community. She is the eldest of two siblings, who live with their mother at Basbari in Naharkatia Tea Estate in Assam. The sudden demise of Bindubai’s father turned their beautiful world upside down. But her mother took all the pain to educate both children. Bindubai is one among only two post-graduates in the entire tea estate, studying at Dibru College, Dibrugarh. WISH Assam team trained her to become a COVID Sakhi, a warrior to sensitize her community members on COVID-19, and keep them safe from this disease. She gained confidence from this training, and now she works independently as a Community Champion. She has emerged as a great role model and opinion leader for youth and women of her community. Bindubai goes on to humbly say, “I am extremely thankful to WISH and APPL Foundation for offering me the right platform to test my limits and stretch my capacities to become a better individual and a community leader.”
