Story of a First-Time Pregnant Woman from Tikkari Bazar (Gwalior)

“It was my first pregnancy, and I was terrified during the lockdown imagining my situation at the hospital for delivery. My area was under a containment zone, so I was more frightened about the situation. Being the first time, I didn’t understand the purpose of Antenatal Care (ANCs)and taking folic acid (IFA), Calcium tablets, and Tetanus Toxoid (TT) injections.

On a calm and quiet lockdown morning, I received a call from the LEHS|WISH team, enquiring about my health condition, IFA/ Calcium tablet’s availability, and consumption. Initially, they asked multiple questions. When they understood that I was panicking, the team advised me about the preventive measures I should take while preparing myself for delivery at the nearest District Hospital. They answered my queries related to the delivery at a hospital that was also a COVID care hospital.

The EDD (expected date of delivery) was near, and almost everything was ready. The list included clothes, travel plans to reach the District Hospital as advised by the team. We called up the 108- ambulance service as soon as labor pain started. On reaching the hospital, I was screened for COVID and immediately admitted to the delivery ward. In the next 10 hours, I had a healthy baby boy in my arms. I wish to thank the team for supporting me during this lockdown. Today I am a healthy mother with a healthy baby, thank you team LEHS|WISH”
